Facing the challenge of unpredictable coastal weather, I planned meticulously to capture a lighthouse between storms, aiming for serene yet moody shots. Despite weather setbacks, my determination remained unwavering. A 2-hour drive north on Highway 1 brought my husband and me to Pigeon Point Lighthouse at sunset. The majestic lighthouse, set against the ocean, was a stunning sight. Immersed in the salty air and the sound of crashing waves, I trudged towards the water, boots sticking to the mud from recent floods. Setting up my tripod, I battled gusty winds that threatened my camera's stability. Aware of the weather risks and potential road closures, I persisted, hoping my efforts would be fruitful. As darkness approached, I feared the sky was too dark for the perfect sunset shot. Then, suddenly, the sun burst through the clouds, creating a breathtaking scene reminiscent of a greeting card painting. I captured the moment quickly, seizing the rapidly fading light. This experience, with its challenges and triumphs, will forever inspire me. It's a reminder to pursue dreams despite obstacles and a testament to the beauty of California's lighthouses, now immortalized in my art.
